The funeral of Queen Elizabeth II is expected to become the world’s most watched live broadcast of all time, the Daily Mail reports.

Viewership is expected to reach 4.1 billion.

More than half the world’s population is likely to follow the Queen’s funeral live at Westminster Abbey.

A number of television stations around the world will broadcast the historic event live.

Officials expect almost half a million people to visit Westminster Hall to pay their respects to the Queen ahead of her funeral.

Experts estimate that 4.1 billion people are likely to watch the entire funeral ceremony. This will break the all-time record of 3.5 billion who watched boxing great Muhammad Ali at the opening of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Television analyst Carolina Beltramo of WatchTVAbroad said the worldwide tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and her funeral will make it the biggest live television event in history.

“Generations of people around the world will witness the dawn of this new era,” added Beltramo.

“No fewer than 4.1 billion people are expected to tune in on Monday to witness this historic moment, as half the world’s people will pay their respects,” the analyst said.

Princess Diana’s funeral, 25 years ago, was watched by an estimated 2.5 billion people.
