Six months have passed since the start of the war in Ukraine. During this half year, things at the front gradually reached a state of equilibrium. In Donbass, the line of clashes settled in the Donetsk region after the entire Luhansk region was captured by the Russian army. In the Kherson region hangs the constant threat of a Ukrainian counterattack, but it certainly does not look like what most people imagine – a massive and concentrated visible large-scale breach. However, it is clear that the Russians are preparing precisely for a Ukrainian attack in the Kherson region and have serious problems there. The issue with the Zaporizhia NPP also remains open.

Yesterday, the Kremlin conceded defeat in the Kharkiv region, the first time Moscow has openly conceded defeat since Russia’s war in Ukraine began in February. That’s the main takeaway in a daily analysis by the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
