The Bulgarian won the start over Aaron Sonenstein (Germany) with 16:21, 21:18, 21:7 in 51 minutes, then won against Jonas Jaeger (Denmark) with 21:13, 21:16 in 42 minutes, but in direct contention for a place in the main draw lost to Aram Mahmoud (Netherlands) 12:21, 14:21 in 36 minutes.
Ilian Stoinov beat Baptiste Rolin (Belgium) 26-24, 21-11 in 21 minutes in the first round before losing to Huang Yu (Taiwan) 21-23, 21-17, 9-21 in a dramatic 56-minute match .
Ivan Rusev was defeated at the start by Liu Wei Chi (Taiwan) 12:12, 20:22 in 40 minutes.
In the women’s main event, Maria Mitsova will play, who will meet a qualifier in the first round, and in the men’s event, Daniel Nikolov will play against the third-placed Pablo Abian from Spain. Rusev/Stoinov and Nikolov/Yanakiev will start in men’s doubles.
Meanwhile, Gergana Pavlova crashed out in the second round of women’s singles at the international badminton tournament in Blanca Dona (Spain). She lost to seventh seed Anna Bigum of Denmark 14:21, 15:21 in 28 minutes.
