Everyone will study from new textbooks and at the end of each stage they hold exams
The new school year begins. Over 717,000 students will step into classrooms on the first day of school. Of them, over 57,000 are first graders, Nova TV reports.
The school year will be opened in various schools by President Rumen Radev, Acting Prime Minister Galab Donev, and Minister of Education Sasho Penov. Training everywhere will begin in person, the Ministry of Education and Culture assures, as measures have been taken to protect the health of students and teachers.
46 educational institutions from 14 regions of the country will start the academic year in other buildings, the most common reason for this being ongoing renovations.
The first day of school begins with changes in the Bulgarian school, reports BNT. All students from 1st to 12th grade study new textbooks and at the end of each stage they take exams based on new curricula. The classes in the 5th – 7th grade will be shorter, but longer – 40 instead of 45 minutes.
This will be news only for 1/5 of the schools. There are also changes during the holidays. The most important one is for the mid-term vacation, which is increased from one day, as it was until now, to five days. Next year it is scheduled between February 1 and 5. There are no major changes to the rest of the holidays – the autumn one will be a day longer, the Christmas one a day shorter, and the 10-day spring holiday will start on April 8, instead of the traditional April 1.
