The initial form of hypertension is a challenge for both doctor and patient because treatment can be affected by non-drug means. If a patient loses about 10 kg of weight, he can lower his blood pressure by 5 mmHg. The second point is the reduction of salt, and the third is daily physical activity. At least 30 minutes a day of running or some equivalent effort is needed. The fourth factor in controlling hypertension is limiting alcohol to normal limits.
