The National Council for Trilateral Cooperation will discuss the poverty line today, the government press service announced. The meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the building of the Council of Ministers (CoM).
In the draft decree of the Council of Ministers on determining the size of the poverty line for the country for 2023, it is assumed that it will become BGN 504 from January 1. According to the methodology for determining the poverty line for the country, the size of the poverty line in Bulgaria is aimed at is determined by the Eurostat survey “Statistics of Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC)”.
The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) believes that the objective poverty line for 2023 should be BGN 541. According to the union, it is appropriate to undertake the restoration of the tool for adjusting inflation, based on the small consumer basket, to the data of EU-SILC on the poverty line.
The agenda also includes normative acts of the Ministry of Justice – the Ordinance on working hours, breaks and vacations and the Ordinance on cash benefits and state social insurance benefits. The proposed changes regulate the procedure for establishing on-call duties and the time at the employer’s disposal, the maximum duration of time and the procedure for reporting it; use of leave to raise a child up to the age of 8 by the father (adoptive parent); submission of the necessary documents to the National Social Security Institute for the payment of the monetary compensation for raising a child up to the age of 8 by the father (the adoptive parent).
