A strike by air traffic controllers in France will lead to flight delays and cancellations.

A strike by air traffic controllers in France will cause delays and cancellation of flights in the country – the world agencies report.

It will last 2 hours.

The protesters want compensation due to inflation and the preparation of a plan for the appointment of young staff. The latter is provoked by the fact that 1/3 of French air traffic controllers are due to retire in the period 2029-2035, and training new staff takes time.

Negotiations between the air traffic controllers and the French authorities have been going on for six months, but they have not been able to prevent a strike.

France’s civil aviation authority has called on airlines to cut flights to and from the country’s mainland and overseas territories by half today.

National carrier Air France has announced that it is cutting short- and medium-haul flights by around 55% and long-haul flights by around 10%.

The air traffic controllers’ union has already issued strike warnings from September 28 to 30.
