Associate Professor Milen Ljubenov also commented on the upcoming elections

The behavior of President Rumen Radev has been controversial since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, both in terms of sending weapons and in relation to gas issues. Such an opinion was expressed in the program “The Day Live with Nadelina Aneva” by the political scientist Prof. Milen Lyubenov.

“The escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will completely rearrange the priorities of the European community. This can give rise to very serious challenges to security in general, not only in Europe, but also globally. It is important to have a strong response, a unified reaction, not only from the point of view of the messages of the European countries,” Lyubenov also said. According to him, the military aid to Ukraine should continue. He added that it is clear that it was Russia that caused the war.

When asked whether the CSNS should be convened, he said the following:

Ministers and heads of special services are present at the Consultative Meeting with the President today. There is no functioning parliament in Bulgaria. Radev can hasten the convening of the National Assembly. So within 2-3 weeks we should have a working parliament that makes decisions”.

And he assured that, after all, the situation is not an emergency and no urgent measures are required regarding our national security.

According to him, GERB and “We continue the change” cannot form a government together.

If voter turnout is very low, GERB and DPS benefit from that, explained Milen Ljubenov.

“Probably, an attempt will be made for an expert, programmatic, anti-crisis government, in which experts will be at the forefront. Political figures will not participate”, explained the political scientist.
