IN Algeria is snowing. The cold wave over the northern and central regions of the African country and much of neighboring Morocco is expected to last until at least January 25.
Daytime temperatures will range between 4 and 10 degrees Celsius, and nighttime temperatures will drop to minus 6 degrees.
A cold front has brought snow and cold to South Africa
In some places, especially in the mountainous regions, snowfalls accompanied by strong winds are also possible.
As of January 24, the Algerian National Meteorological Service has issued orange and yellow warning codes for extreme cold.

Snowfall and negative temperatures are not typical for the region, a large part of which is occupied by the Sahara desert.
However, climate anomalies have become more frequent in the last decade. In the Algerian city of Ain Sefra, it snowed in the winters of 1979, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.
