British police announced today that A man entered a McDonald’s in central England and left dozens of live rodents painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag on the floor, Reuters reported. An investigation has been launched into the case.
Anti-Semitic events in Great Britain increased after the bombings of Israel against Gaza, followed by a ground offensive, in response to the attack on the Palestinian group “Hamas” on October 7. Violence, verbal abuse and attacks on property have been reported both in the UK and around the world.
A video on social media shows a man with a Palestinian flag wrapped around his head entering the “McDonald’s” in Birmingham with a box of rodents, some of them painted green and red, and then leaves the animals on the floor in front of the frightened customers. He then shouts “Fuck Israel”.
“We are investigating the case after live rodents were thrown into a restaurant in the Nechels district yesterday around 5:30 p.m.,” said police in X (formerly Twitter). “We understand the concern this has caused and it is not acceptable under any circumstances.” The police said that the case is being treated as a violation of public order.
“We are aware of what happened last night at our restaurant,” McDonald’s UK said in a statement.
Two weeks ago, McDonald’s Israel said it was distributed thousands of free rations to Israeli soldiers, which led the American giant’s franchises in some Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Turkey to disassociate themselves from the Israeli franchise. Large demonstrations were organized in London and elsewhere in support of the Palestinians calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the siege of the enclave.
