The Israeli army announced a 4-hour window for the evacuation of civilians from the southern part of the Gaza Strip, world agencies reported. The appeal to the population is to move to the northern part of the territory. The deadline expires at noon Bulgarian time.
The army has also published a map showing the route by which the movement can be carried out. The published message said in Arabic:
“If you care for you and your loved ones, head south following our instructions“.
Calls to relocate the civilian population began in the early days of the Israeli army’s operation. It was provoked by attacks by the terrorist organization “Hamas” on October 7 on Israeli territory.
According to the Israeli army, about 700,000 people have already left their homes. Over 2 million people live in Gaza.
Meanwhile, protests took place in Jerusalem in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence. The public outcry has been fueled by the failure of Israeli services to prevent Hamas attacks since October 7. To date, over 200 people remain captives of the terrorist organization.
So far, Netanyahu has not accepted responsibility for the services’ failures. Israel has threatened a large-scale ground operation in Gaza, but it has not yet begun. Instead, attempts to free the hostages continue with the assistance of Western allies and the mediation of countries in the region.
At the same time, Israel has been criticized internationally for strikes in Gaza that have killed civilians. The UN has repeatedly declared that there is a danger of a huge humanitarian crisis, so the supply of the Palestinian territory has been completely stopped.
