An American tourist died in the Bahamas after a catamaran with more than 100 people on board sank in the Atlantic Ocean. One of the passengers even managed to film the sinking vessel.

The double-decker catamaran was traveling to the Blue Lagoon Island, a popular destination located northeast of the capital of the Bahamas, Nassau, reports CBS. He started taking in water after leaving Paradise Island with a group of tourists, and sank late on Tuesday morning, BTV reported.

There were over 100 people on board. A 74-year-old woman from Broomfield, Colorado, who was on a five-day vacation with her family, has died. It is unclear exactly how she died. She was given CPR and taken to the port where she was pronounced dead.

The remaining passengers and crew members were rescued. Two other unidentified people were taken to a hospital, police said.

A video posted on social media showed passengers screaming as the catamaran began to list on its starboard side. Tourists start jumping into the water as they swim towards the nearby boats. The footage shows them wearing life jackets.

The Royal Bahamas Defense Force also assisted in the rescue, police said. The investigation continues.
