Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei thanked the country’s armed forces for their operation against Israel and called on them to “continually pursue military innovation and study the enemy’s tactics,” reports Reuters.
Tensions between Israel and Iran escalated on April 1, when Tel Aviv struck the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing two generals and five officers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Tehran responded 12 days later by taking an unprecedented direct military attack against Israel with over 300 missiles and drones. However, the attack did not cause significant damage. Almost all of the missiles and drones were intercepted by Israeli, American and other allied forces.
“How many missiles were fired and how many of them hit their target is not the main issue, what really matters is that Iran demonstrated its willpower during this operation,” Khamenei stressed today.
Early Friday, Israel struck a military airport near the city of Isfahan in Central Iran. However, Tehran downplayed the incident and said it had no plans to retaliate, a response likely aimed at preventing a region-wide war.
