Biden quickly signs off on military aid to Ukraine

--

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr On Monday, Zelensky received assurances from his American colleague Joe Biden to quickly sign the military aid bill into law after Saturday’s critical vote in the House of Representatives.

The two had a telephone conversation on the subject. This is stated in a publication by Zelensky in X, quoted by “Ukrinform”.

“After the vote in the US House of Representatives, I spoke with US President Joe Bidenwho assured me that he would sign the bill as soon as it passed the Senate. I appreciate President Biden’s unwavering support for Ukraine and true global leadership,” Zelensky wrote.

In the call Zelensky also noted the bill’s bipartisan support and the personal contributions of Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to its passage.

“The other decision of the House to allow the confiscation of frozen Russian assets also sends a strong signal to all our partners,” adds Zelensky.

The Ukrainian president also briefed his US counterpart on Russia’s air terror, involving thousands of missiles, drones and bombs, including the recent strike on the TV tower in Kharkiv just minutes before the call of the two leaders. Russia has clearly signaled its intention to make the city uninhabitable, Zelensky wrote.

The new package of US military aid leaves for Ukraine within days

The White House is also considering sending tactical ATACMS missiles, Democratic Sen. Mark Warner said

We recall the first deliveries of US military aid, including ATACMS tactical missiles, can be shipped as early as next week. This was stated by Democratic Senator Mark Warner.

“I hope that when the bill goes to the president, on Tuesday or Wednesday, those deliveries will literally be launched, along with these longer-range missiles, the ATACMS. I hope that when the president signs those will be on the way by the end of week,” Senator Warner said on CBS.

The House of Representatives voted on aid appropriations for Ukraine on April 20. On Tuesday, April 23, the Senate plans to begin voting on this legislation, after which President Biden must sign the document.
