Ministers meeting in Luxembourg said the decision by the US House of Representatives to approve a $60 billion aid package for Ukraine should not lead to “any complacency”.
“We can be joyful one day, but we must be ready for the battle that comes tomorrow. That is why we cannot be calm,” commented the Foreign Minister of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
In recent weeks, EU governments have come under increasing pressure to provide more defense systems due to increased airstrikes by the Russian military against Ukrainian energy infrastructure and cities.
However, the countries that own the US-made Patriot systems, which Ukraine already uses and values highly for their ability to shoot down ballistic missiles, have not yet decided to hand them over to Ukraine.
