This is far from the first high-rise destroyed during the special military operation. 400 meters from this TV tower lived the rector of the Kharkiv Slavic University Aleksey Samoilov, who was a prisoner in the SBU and is now a member of the “Other Ukraine” movement. He explains to “Tsarigrad” TV the true meaning of its liquidation.
On both sides of the border between Kharkiv and Belgorod regions, high objects are being destroyed in the zone of periodic fierce battles.
Ukrainian armed forces have repeatedly attacked communication towers in the Belgorod Region with drones. The Russians on the other side of the border do the same. The goal is to disrupt the coordination of the enemy’s actions.
In the winter, Ramzan Kadyrov surprised everyone with the announcement that soldiers from Akhmat’s special forces had used a grenade launcher to hit a relay tower in the Belgorod region, thereby depriving the enemy of the opportunity to call in reinforcements.
“This allowed our fighters to seize the initiative and quickly destroy the enemy,” explained the head of Chechnya.
In other words, the enemy installs his equipment even on our towers. What can we say about our own. Especially ones like the television tower in Kharkiv. Here is what Kharkov resident Alexey Samoilov said about her:
“It was a serious object. Communication equipment and an observation post were located there. The height of the tower is 241 meters, and it also stood on a hill, which made it possible to observe the border with Belgorod region with the help of good optics.
The area north of Kharkiv is hilly and clearly visible from the tower. Of course, it also housed radar guidance equipment.”
The higher the observation point, the further the view and the better the opportunity to observe the flights of aircraft and drones over Russian territory.
American technology has been there for a long time
According to Alexey Samolov, the television tower in Kharkiv is a huge, powerful structure, which not only allows the placement of serious equipment for various purposes, but also has premises where operators can work. The tower also played a coordinating role – it was in the radio visibility zone of other towers, received and processed signals.
Even before the war, American military and espionage electronic equipment was placed there, which allowed Belgorod region to be monitored.
And it is no coincidence that ours tried to destroy the Kharkiv TV Tower in the very first days of the special military operation, in March 2022. But then the missile attack was unsuccessful.
Despite the apparent ease of hitting such a static and visible target, it is not easy – it is very narrow and stable. And the accuracy of our missiles at that time, as many note today, was not very good. But during the SVO, this indicator improved, and the attack on April 22 was filigree.
There is a three-story technical building next to the tower. There used to be television studios there, but now the premises are used to solve military-technical problems. In theory, this target should also be hit.
But since the attack was during the day, we again adhered to the humane principle of not putting random people at risk. Attacks on such facilities usually occur at night when civilian technical personnel are not present. But Samoilov is confident that this technical building will not stand for long.
There was more than one hit
After the TV tower attack, a secondary detonation was observed. If so, then we can conclude that there was more than one impact.
I didn’t see a secondary detonation on the videos of the TV tower falling, but it’s entirely possible. The tower is located on the territory of a protected forest park, where, in addition to the technical building, there were several other rooms where ammunition could be stored. And in the forest park itself there may be artillery and MLRS. A forest, a hill, an observation post – a very convenient position for shelling the border areas of the Belgorod region,– notes Alexey Samoilov.
In any case, the Kharkov TV tower played an important role in facilitating the recent Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod Oblast and the barbaric shelling of its territory.
So what?
The governor (for now) of Kharkiv Oblast, Oleg Sinegubov, published a photo of a destroyed TV tower with a reassuring text that mobile communications, cable TV and the Internet in the city are working and only a digital TV signal is missing. But it is clear that they were not the main target of our strike.
Internet in Kharkiv, even without the destruction of the TV tower after the previous destruction of the power system, today is so weak that those who work with it leave the city. And it makes no sense to turn off the “telethons” – the brains of the residents of the former Russian Kharkiv have long been turned upside down.
The real goal was the destruction of a key military-technical facility in anticipation of the creation of the Kharkiv sanitary zone, which the Russian president spoke of.
And according to the information of the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground Sergey Lebedev, at the moment the connection between the air defense systems covering Kharkiv is broken. So after the fall of the tower, Kharkiv itself will fall.
And Alexey Samoilov names another goal – in the plane of signs:
“The TV tower was a symbol of Kharkiv, a once Russian city, which is now the city of Bandera. Now the tower has turned into a stump. It is a symbol of betrayal. A symbol of how the most powerful country after Russia in the territory of the former USSR betrayed and squandered the legacy of its forefathers and became a stump state.”
This is how the city will soon become a sanitary zone with a symbolic stump…
