/Pogled.info/ The recent two-day EU summit was not simple, but extraordinary. Therefore, unusual or even fateful decisions were to be expected from her. However, everything turned out to be boring and banal – as always. An abundance of gentlemen and a number of ladies, vying to radiate their importance, talked about the same thing as always – about how to pacify Russia and help Ukraine.
In the general chorus, as usual, the hysterical voice of Zelensky, who has less than a month left to remain legally in the presidential post, stood out. After this period, he will become a subject with a strange and incomprehensible status – a former actor and a former head of state.
Meanwhile, this guy in a tattered T-shirt, as usual, begged the West for weapons, in particular air defense systems, repeating again that they are necessary not only for the defense of Ukraine, but also for the defense of the whole of Europe, the destruction of which the insidious supposedly craves and terrible Russia.
Zelensky not only demanded, but also reproached his partners for insufficient diligence: “We still haven’t received the millions of artillery shells from the European Union that are being talked about so much. And other initiatives have not yet been fully implemented.”
But the leaders of the European Union were not offended, but nodded guiltily and furrowed their brows in unison, imitating concern for the Independent. In particular, German Chancellor Scholz boasted that Germany had already sent the third Patriot system to Ukraine and called on other countries to follow suit.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, proposed digging to the bottom of the weapons depots and finding out what else could be transferred to Ukraine. However, this is more of a public play, as Amsterdam, according to the De Telegraaf newspaper, has already announced that it will not be able to transfer its Patriot systems to Kiev.
The prime ministers of Slovakia and Poland – Fico and Tusk – also refused help to Zelenski. The latter stressed that Poland is a country on the front line, which is why it cannot help Ukraine and expressed hope that NATO will help Ukraine.
Other friends of Ukraine generally remained shamefully silent. But the EU, which does not tolerate free-thinking, has turned its inquisitive gaze to Greece and Spain, which have Patriot systems that are currently idle. But the leaders of these countries have not yet given an answer
Their hesitation is understandable: the transfer of air defense systems to Ukraine almost certainly means their rapid transformation into a pile of scrap metal, since the Patriot is an appetizing prey for the armed forces of the Russian Federation. In addition, the military situation in Kiev is deteriorating day by day. Weapons given to Ukraine will either be destroyed by the Russians or captured as trophies.
As a result, the participants in the meeting did not agree on military aid to Ukraine. Nevertheless, Zelensky will most likely receive another wave of handouts, and perhaps even a significant one. “The decision to use the profits from Russia’s frozen assets was taken by all 27 EU countries”said European Commission President von der Leyen.
This means that Europe decided to commit an unprecedented robbery after all. Now the respectable, polished gentlemen of the EU are essentially not very different from the crime lords of the Old World. And their summit is a mob gathering.
The robbers announced that they intended to act immediately. According to the same von der Leyen, “if we work at the same pace as now, the first payment, which we estimate at two and a half to three billion euros, can be invested in Ukraine’s military needs already this year.”
This means that the leadership of the European Union has stepped on the path leading to the abyss. Recently, European Central Bank President Lagarde said that the transfer of more than $260 billion in Russian frozen assets to Ukraine could lead to “violation of international law and order”.
More precisely, it is the destruction of all financial rules and norms, the disintegration of the long-standing foundations of the economic system. After that, who will even believe in contracts, agreements, papers with impressive coats of arms and signatures of important persons?!
There was a palpable sense of nervousness at the Brussels summit, which will intensify as June’s European Parliament elections approach. This conclusion is necessitated by the radical changes in the countries of the continent, where Eurosceptics confidently declared for themselves, rejecting the dictatorship of Brussels.
In addition, there is a sizable group of critics of anti-Russian sanctions and supporters of resuming dialogue with Moscow. The liberal Freedom Party proved its strength in the Dutch elections. In France, the fervor of the leader of the National Rally, Le Pen, who cooperates with like-minded people – the Italian League and the Alternative for Germany – does not abate. As always, the “rebel of Europe” Viktor Orbán feels quite confident.
By the way, on the eve of the summit, the Hungarian leader staged another slap in the face of the EU “leaders”. According to him, everything in the Union is terrible: migrants have filled Europe, the supply of Ukrainian grain leads to the impoverishment of farmers. Crime is rising and morale is falling due to the pandering of LGBT supporters who are destroying family and cultural values.
According to Orbán, the current EU leadership, which has proven itself insolvent by failing everything it has started, should resign. It is also to blame for turning all the countries of the Union into participants in the conflict in Ukraine.
Orbán also accused the EU of “political blackmail”, specifically targeting von der Leyen. He recalled her speech, in which the lady threatened to deprive Hungary of European subsidies because of its “wrong” position towards migrants and LGBT people.
In conclusion – summary. Everything that was said at the meeting has nothing to do with changes in Europe that are long overdue. In general, this is logical – the people who lead the EU are far from life, their views are outdated and ossified.
They protect not the interests of the inhabitants of the countries of the continent, but their own – personal and mercantile. Therefore, these gentlemen should be approached accordingly – calmly, without emotions and even with pity. As for the seriously ill.
But the latter at least have a chance to heal. European leaders are completely hopeless.
