In the ballot with which we will vote in the upcoming early parliamentary elections on October 2, number 21 will not appear. The reason – the United People’s Party has not registered lists of its candidates in any electoral district. This was announced by the Central Election Commission at a briefing on Thursday.

In addition, the “National Unity Movement” party has not registered candidate lists in the 12th and 21st electoral districts – Montana and Sliven. Therefore, the party number will not appear on the ballots in these settlements.
The CEC was expected to present the sample ballot today. In the end, it became clear that this would happen probably next Thursday.
The election campaign starts at midnight. A total of 28 parties and coalitions are entering the battle for the 48th National Assembly. A month before the election, it is still unclear who will maintain the voting machines. The Central Election Commission explained that negotiations with the possible executor are continuing. The public contract is worth nearly BGN 7 million without VAT. Machines will be used to vote in 9,363 sections in our country, and in 290 abroad.
What are the numbers of the parties and coalitions on the ballot
Twice as many applications for voting abroad were submitted by our compatriots abroad. To date, 28,896 electronic applications have been submitted.
The CEC urged Bulgarians abroad to submit applications on the commission’s website in order to facilitate voting.
The deadline for submission of applications ends at 00.00 on September 6th.
In the last elections outside Bulgaria there were 750 sections, in this election it is expected that there will be around 800.
“The reason for this is in the liberalized regime for opening sections, based on the results of previous elections. 734 sections can be opened on this basis”, explained CEC Deputy Chairman Tsvetozar Tomov.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the organization of voting abroad is going according to plan. The first group of diplomats who will restore the activity of our embassy in Ukraine will leave on September 11. The most sections will traditionally be in Turkey, Great Britain, Germany, Spain and the United States. Despite the war in Ukraine – there may be a voting section there.
“There are only 7 to vote in Ukraine. After our group leaves on the 11th, we will hold talks with the authorities in Ukraine and, in coordination with the CEC, we will guarantee the security of Bulgarian citizens, we will foresee actions to open a section in Ukraine”, he explained Kalin Atanasov from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And in our country we will be able to reveal more than 9 thousand sections.
“9,363 sections in the country will be voted by machine, of which 1,104 will have two machines, 290 outside the country will be voted by machine for now. There will be a second machine in 235, but it is possible to increase this number after the deadline for submission of applications is over,” explained CEC Deputy Chairman Rositsa Mateva.
The ballot itself will be presented in a week.
The CEC reminded that the deadline for submitting an application for voting at the current address expires on September 17. And they clarified that even if we voted this way in the previous elections, this does not allow us to vote again. Again, on September 17, the deadline for submitting an application for people who want to vote through a mobile polling station expires.
“Six days before the application deadline, unfortunately, there are just over 29,000, of which only 7 are eligible to vote in Ukraine. After our group leaves on the 11th, we will hold talks with the authorities in Ukraine and in coordination with the CEC, we will guarantee the security of Bulgarian citizens, we will foresee actions to open a section in Ukraine”, assured Kalin Anastasov from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
