The physical integrity of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant “Zaporozhie”, occupied by the Russian military, has been violated, said the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Raphael Grossi, after inspecting the site, BTA reported citing France Press.
“This is something that cannot continue to happen,” he told reporters upon his return to the city of Zaporizhia.
Some members of the IAEA mission, which he now leads, will remain at headquarters until Sunday or Monday to continue assessing the situation, Grossi said. The head of the IAEA added that the agency plans to establish a permanent presence at the headquarters after the expiration of this period.
“The IAEA is now here at this site and will not move from here, we will stay here,” Grossi added, quoted by Reuters. “We will have a continued presence here at headquarters, which will be exercised by some of my experts,” he said. Grossi clarified that these experts will provide an unbiased, neutral, technically sound assessment of what happened on the ground. he also stated.
