Samsung may return to the Russian market before the end of the year. This was reported to Izvestia by a source close to the corporation, as well as two interlocutors from the industry. According to one of them, the resumption of deliveries and sales of items of the South Korean brand is likely to happen as early as October.
As another source of “Izvestia” close to the company notes, the reason for talking about Samsung’s return to Russia may also be the fact that the South Korean brand recently updated its Russian website – now it includes the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphones and Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, according to another source, this alone cannot be a sure indicator of Samsung’s comeback.
The headquarters of Samsung refused to comment on the information about the resumption of the company’s work in Russia.
“For other companies that have suspended operations in Russia, the return of Samsung may be a signal that it is possible for them to return as well,” believes one of the sources of “Izvestia”.
By possibly returning to Russia, Samsung will have to fight to regain market share, according to experts. For example, the share of the brand’s smartphones in total sales in the country in August decreased to 9%, while a year ago it was 30%.
Global smartphone sales are falling, with only two brands growing
What is the market share of the largest manufacturers in the world
Samsung smartphones are quite popular among Russians, and if the company decides to resume sales in the Russian Federation, it will be able to catch up to previous sales volumes, according to the director of Telecom Daily.
The practice of recent months shows that the market niche of the companies that left Russia is quickly occupied by Chinese brands. Sales of a number of smartphone brands from China in July increased by 2-3.5 times compared to last year, retailers told Izvestia.
Tecno entered the top five of the most popular phone brands in Russia for the first time, and Xiaomi and realme became the leaders.
