The installation of the artist Krasimir Terziev “Between the past that is about to happen and the future that has already been” was opened in the City Garden in Sofia. This sentence, written in a circle without commas, represents the installation carried out under the program of the Metropolitan Municipality “Out”, and is located on the site of the former mausoleum.
“This project started as an initiative of the Metropolitan Municipality more than 3 years ago, when 8 project proposals were received for this location. The jury chose Krasimir Terziev’s project. Sofia needs more art in an urban environment and such works have the role not only symbolically because of the place they are located, to provoke and make us think”, said the deputy mayor for culture, sports and education Yana Genova.

The idea of the artist Krasimir Terziev is to develop a place where one can mentally free himself from the inertia of everyday life, think about past events, with a vision for the future. “The idea of the work is related to the place where it is located. The sentence is the result of anxiety. It can make us think about the future and the past,” the author of the installation pointed out. When asked about the omitted commas, Krasimir Terziev replied that it was done on purpose. Similar to the artistic speech, in which the author is allowed to free himself from grammar and in the name of a more musical expression, here too the commas are omitted. “Many modern poets and writers use this principle,” Terziev also commented.
The work was selected in 2022 in the second edition of the “Out” Program of the Metropolitan Municipality among eight other proposals. The project was also voted by the Metropolitan Municipal Council after a public discussion with citizens and representatives of the cultural community.
