Stefan Ivanov’s book “From thefts to murders” will be presented in the Union Hall of the Regional History Museum in Plovdiv tonight. Criminal offenses in Bulgaria (1944-1989)”.

The documentary examines criminal offenses prior to November 10, 1989. In it, the author, a historian, debunks the myth – I quote: “that there were no serious crimes and life was more peaceful under communism.”

Stefan Ivanov tracks thefts of public and personal property, robberies, rapes and intentional murders. The research published specific data, examined the conditions and environment in which the crimes took place, and drew general conclusions.

The author and the book will be presented by Rada Banyalieva, a long-time researcher of the new and most recent Bulgarian history. It starts at 6:30 p.m., admission is free.

Stefan Ivanov was born in 1975 in Sofia. Doctor of History, has completed master’s degrees in both Theology (Theology) and Marketing. Deputy director of 149 “Ivan Hadjiyski” Secondary School in the capital. Elected for three consecutive terms as a municipal councilor in Sofia for the period 2003-2015. Author of the books “Bulgaria and Germany 1914-1915” (historical monograph), “Three colors: blue, blue, blue” (journalism), “Song of the Nightingale” ” (novel) and “From thefts to murders. Criminal crimes in Bulgaria (1944-1989)” (historical monograph). One of the founders of the local coalition “Blue Sofia”, which for the upcoming parliamentary and European elections grew into “Blue Bulgaria”. Married, with a daughter and a son.
