The prestigious “Knight of the Book” award will be presented today. Association “Bulgarian Book” organizes the ceremony every year on World Book and Copyright Day, April 23. This is the culmination of the annual “Walk of Books” campaign, which for the 13th year in a row aims to make reading among teenagers a useful and inseparable habit of their everyday life.
This year’s awards recognize outstanding achievements in the field of books and reading for the past 2023 and include four categories, with nominees being distinguished teachers, journalists, writers, translators, creators of online platforms, as well as entire libraries and educational institutions.
The “Teacher/School” category includes the following nominees: Evgeniy Cherepov, teacher, Krasimira Tsoneva from Bacho Kiro Secondary School in the city of Letnitsa and Sava Dobroplodni Secondary School in Shumen.
The “Library/Librarian” category also contains impressive nominations: the “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” National Library, the University Library of the University of National and World Economy and the “Lyuben Karavelov” Regional Library in Ruse.
The “Media/journalist” category includes: the online reading platform “Knigovishte”, the journalist Georgi Milkov, the screenwriter and journalist Dimitar Stoyanovich, the journalist and literary critic Mladen Vlashki and Evgenia Chausheva from “Aktualno”.
The writer Georgi Gospodinov and Angela Rodel, translator of the book “Time Asylum” and the creator of the online platform “How to spell?” are nominated in the category “Public”. Pavlina Varbanova.
