Journalist and writer Iva Dimitrova presents her new book “Flawless Home”which addresses the issue of emotional abuse in couples. In front of the BNR she emphasized that the book is for both women and men because anyone can be a victim.
“At first look the idea of the immaculate home is instilled in us generations ago – that everything troubling should remain in the family, that others – neighbors, friends, even relatives – should not understand that there is some problem in the family. People live for years like this, building this “perfect home”, sweeping problems under the carpet. At second glance – I wanted to talk about different situations that each of us has encounteredif not in his home, then in the home of a close friend – because insulting the other, devaluing him, belittling him as a man or a woman – this is violence. Those people who live in these “flawless homes” should know that there is something else – that there is love, that there is happiness and in the end, life is one and we should live it happily”, said the author in an interview for the program “Before All”.
In her words “Flawless Home” shows the symptoms of the abuser. In her book, she examines questions such as how people living in such relationships think there is no problem. according to her a child who lives in such an environment, when he grows up, he will either become a bully or look for a bully in his life.
In most cases, people remain trapped, because they think there is nothing else, emphasized Iva Dimitrova. according to her people need to talk about it.
