A book about Krasimira Koldamova is published on World Ballet Day

A book about the primate of Bulgarian ballet and prominent ballet teacher Krasimira Koldamova is published on International Ballet Day, April 29. “The Ballerina Koldamova” authored by the famous journalist Gergana Mihailova presents a fascinating story of the life of one of the greatest masters of dance art in our country in 336 pages.

The book is an ode to a life dedicated to artistry and the pursuit of perfection. Koldamova’s extraordinary talent not only charms the audience, but also leaves an indelible mark in the world of dance. With every pirouette and every movement, she weaves stories that transcend the stage and inspire generations. A ballerina whose legacy will continue to dance in the hearts of fans for generations to come.

The book “The Ballerina Koldamova” contains more than 60 photographs and 16 QR code videos.

“I’ve never been attracted to ‘Do you remember?'” conversations. But having fallen into this trap myself, I had to finish the role I had taken on. I had to try this challenge too and I realized how difficult it is to tell your life – it’s like playing yourself. I only know that I can do better,” says the heroine of the story.

“Krasimira Koldamova – an exceptional ballerina, extraordinary, original, devoted entirely to her art, art as her only way of life. Madly in love with ballet, she lives through this art”, this is how Gergana Mihailova, the author of the book, briefly characterizes her heroine.

Krasimira Koldamova is among the greatest world-renowned prima ballerinas. Played over 60 roles, including the iconic Giselle and Edith Piaf. She is one of the creators of the Arabesque ballet, and in 1991 she founded the Ballet Studio for the Discovery and Development of Talent, from which the most talented young hopefuls of Bulgarian dance emerge to this day.

Last night prima ballerina Krasimira Koldamova became the first winner of the special award from the newly established honors of Eva magazine – Eva Golden Apple in the category “Eternal Eva”. She was present at the ceremony and personally accepted her plastic golden apple with the recommendation to “guard our souls more than our faces”. You cannot dance beautifully on stage if you are not beautiful in your soul, Koldamova pointed out and added: “My message is ‘Love!’ Love is short.” She is the winner of many more national and international awards for her art. The first prize and a gold medal from the International Youth Festival in Vienna from the distant 1959…

Krasimira Koldamova was born in Stara Zagora on December 8, 1938. She graduated from the first experimental class at the State Ballet School in Sofia, a graduate of ballet teachers Vladimir Beloy and Lily Beron. He specialized for two years at the school at the Bolshoi Theater under Elisaveta Gert.

He began his career at the Sofia Opera. Her first leading role was Giselle on the Rousse ballet stage, after which she returned to Sofia again. He danced on the stages of a number of world theaters, was prima at the French “Grand Ballet Classic” in 1972/1973, repeatedly toured in Havana at the invitation of the famous choreographer Alberto Alonso. He has over 60 roles in more than 70 productions. Her last role in ballet was Edith Piaf (1998), and at the age of 65 she danced in the performance “50 years of metamorphoses”, dedicated to herself. Koldamova also starred in the cinema: in the film “We were young” by Binka Zhelyazkova and the ballet films “Poets of the Dance” by Lyudmil Staykov and “The Doll” by Mikhail Pandursky. BNT created the documentary “Life of thumbs” for her.

The primate’s son, Preslav Manchev, is also a ballet dancer. Her brother is the ballet dancer Petar Koldamov.
