Threads, Instagram’s text-based social network, now has more active users in the US market than X/Twitter, according to Apptopia data cited by Business Insider. This is a strong indicator for the future of both platforms.
In April, Threads averaged 28 million active users in the US, while X/Twitter was 21% lower at 22 million. Historically, when we have two similar social platforms and the new one overtakes the old one in the US, it’s usually a process , from which there is no turning back – as Facebook and Myspace showed in 2008. The American market sets trends in the social world.
