Over the weekend, the rap star shared a photo on social media to “celebrate” the milestone.

Eminem, who was born Marshall Mathers, was congratulated by his colleagues in the industry who did not fail to say that they were proud of him. Commentators included Oscar-nominated director Matthew Cook and Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg.

Eminem has long been open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol. In 2007, the rapper took a near-fatal methadone overdose. Shortly after, he firmly stated that he refused this lifestyle and expressed a desire to get in shape. In 2015, in an interview with Men’s Journal, the Detroit performer revealed that he weighed over 100 kilograms when he was addicted to various types of opiates.

“I took years of Vicodin and Valium that left a hole in my stomach,” he explained. “To avoid these pains, I constantly ate and ate poorly.” According to him, then he had to quickly figure out a way to lose weight and “function sober”. “I started moving a lot, running. It gave me a natural endorphin rush and also helped me fall asleep more easily.” He told the publication that he used to run 17 miles (27 km) a day.

Once he got his act together, his career took off again. In 2022, Eminem was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There, during his acceptance speech, he spoke frankly about his overdose in 2007.

“Music practically saved my life… and I probably wouldn’t be here tonight for a number of reasons. In 2007, I almost died of an overdose, which sucks.”
