David Beckham and Mark Wahlberg – from friends to adversaries in court

--

David Beckham is not only one of the most successful footballers in the history of this sport – he is also one of the most popular athletes. Which makes him a desirable person for many companies regardless of their field of activity.

Here’s who bet on David Beckham’s charm

New advertising contract for the football star

Shortly after moving to Los Angeles with his family, Beckham agreed to become an ambassador for F45 Training, the training company in which his neighbor and actor Mark Wahlberg owns 36%.

Both the footballer and F45 Training have been making a series of social media posts aimed at attracting customers to the company. The posts in question have since been deleted, and David Beckham has filed a lawsuit against Wahlberg.

According to the filings, Beckham feels “cheated” and claims he lost $10m (around £8m) after not receiving F45 shares that were part of the deal. They were given to him after their price had fallen dramatically.

Beckham is suing both Mark Wahlberg Investment Group (MWIG) and F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch. They all asked for the case to be dismissed, but the judge ruled against them. The soccer star isn’t the only one to take legal action against the F45. Former NFL player Terrell Owens sued the Australian company in 2017 for not paying him $700,000, The Wrap reports.
