The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded the legendary French actor Alain Delon with the Order of Merit, the highest Ukrainian award, for his support to the country. This was announced by the Ukrainian ambassador to France Vadim Omelchenko live in the program of the host Cyril Vigier on TV5Monde.

He noted that the awarding of the star of French cinema by President Zelensky with an order “For Merit” III degree for the aid to Ukraine is “an extremely rare and unprecedented gesture towards a foreigner”.

In September 2022, Alain Delon had a conversation from the TV5Monde studio with President Volodymyr Zelensky from Kyiv, recalls in. Now. It is known that since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the actor has supported the country – publicly read poems by the Ukrainian classic Taras Shevchenko, promised the head of state Zelensky to visit Ukraine when such an opportunity arose, and said that he would serve in the ranks of the country’s armed forces if he were 50 years younger.

However, in recent months, Alain Delon’s health has deteriorated, and his three children – Antony, Anoushka and Alain-Fabien have started legal battles among themselves, related to the concealment of information about the actor’s condition. Their differences of opinion about the treatment he should undergo were evident in the court arguments. Recently, the court of the municipality of Montargi ordered that Delon be placed under an enhanced guardianship regime.
