Of all their new ventures, by far the biggest surprise was American Riviera Orchard, Meghan’s new company, which is expected to hit the market by late spring and will offer everything from homewares and decorative accessories to cookbooks and marmalade.
It was Harry’s wife’s marmalade that caused quite a few comments. She chose it to be American Riviera Orchard’s first product, promoting it by sending 50 numbered jars to various public figures.
Furious comments followed on social media that a jar of marmalade was not art to be in limited quantity. For Meghan Markle, however, it’s clearly a treasured piece – sources to the DailyMail claim it’s made from strawberries from the Sussex family’s private garden in Montecito.
Among the stars who got hold of American Riviera Orchard’s strawberry marmalade are Mindy Kaling, Tracee Ellis Ross, Delphine Blaquier. Actress Melissa McCarthy publicly defended Megan’s venture.
“A smart and interesting woman with her own life, for some reason, is always perceived as a big threat by some people,” McCarthy told Page Six. “I’ve never felt threatened by amazing people. They just inspire me.”
