They still do, often as extremely well-remunerated “brand ambassadors”.

But it seems that this just isn’t enough for some of the more enthusiastic and ambitious celebrities these days. We live in the age of celebrity beauty brands.

Of course, we’ve been seeing countless celebrities, mostly women, launch their own perfumes for quite some time now, but in the last few years, it seems like it’s not enough. We’ve seen an unprecedented rise in makeup, skin care and hair companies founded by famous women who couldn’t resist the temptation of entrepreneurship.

Some of them have come and gone (remember Jessica Simpson’s Dessert Beauty?), while others have remained at the helm for many years now, adding hefty passes to the already large bank accounts of their founders.
