Sean Dyche has long proven himself as a manager, but when he is away from the stadiums and training grounds, he switches off from football to devote himself to his other great love – music.

The 52-year-old coach is a total music lover, and his passion dates back decades.

In an interview with the popular YouTube soccer show The Overlap, Dysch discussed his long-time love of music and his experiences at the many concerts he’s attended.

And they are really many and varied – from those of Pink and Rihanna to Stiff Little Fingers, Green Day and Metallica.

Dyche admits he was turned on to music by former England captain, current football pundit and noted punk rock fan Stuart Pearce.

It was the Arsenal legend, nicknamed Psycho, who took him to watch Spear of Destiny at Nottingham Rock City when the pair were still teammates at Forest. We are talking about the end of the 80s and not about the representative team, but about the youth formations of the two-time European champion.

More than 30 years later, Dyche has friends in music circles such as Sir Elton John and Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno.

His older brothers turned him on to AC/DC and David Bowie, and he lists Fontaines DC, Happy Mondays and Inspiral Carpets among the bands he’s seen recently.

And when it comes to his super favourites, he points out The Hives and their amazing performance at Glastonbury last year.

“It’s one o’clock in the afternoon, it’s hot, everyone’s a bit unsure because the day hasn’t started yet and you don’t know what… And then The Hives just come out and smash it. Inhuman, absolutely brilliant! Rick Astley was amazing there too .Fantastic act.The Foo Fighters are amazing…Even Metallica, although not really my thing, they put on a great show.

And Green Day are just… We’re talking two hours of high-octane, non-stop wire – song after song! Here’s a piece of advice from me: anyone who hasn’t seen Green Day – I make the clarification that it doesn’t matter who likes what kind of music – just buy a ticket and see Green Day. Stuart Pearce once told me that I absolutely had to go to their concert and the truth is that they are just another universe.

I remember when they stopped in the middle of the concert, Billie Joe Armstrong said, “Put your phones down. You’re not with me to really feel what we’re doing. You have to put your phones down and be with me to remember it for yourself, for the person next to you, for everyone in this hall. Then I thought one thing – genius.”
