BGN 200 is a kilo of Easter bread in some boutique bakeries. The colossal price shocked even chef Andre Tokev, a luminary in the kitchen. The Bash Master declared that he would not buy such an expensive ritual bread. And he added that making it at home will cost about BGN 25 for each housewife.
The cosmic amount for a boutique kozunak literally took away the treasures in the sweet bakery of Linda McKenzie-Petkova, the wife of ex-prime minister Kiril Petkov.
In Petkova’s pastry shop, one kozunak is sold for 60 BGN, and only with advance registration and deposit. The Canadian specified that her pasta temptations are gluten-free, which makes them extremely useful and suitable for people with gluten intolerance. Moreover, the former minister is adamant that she only works with the highest quality products.
“You know that a Ferrari and a Porsche have different prices than a Renault and a Fiat. We cannot determine the price of the cakes. The manufacturers, confectioners or bakers decide what it is, and we will decide will we want to buy this kozunak, for which the bakers buy organic eggs, and that makes them more expensive, just like there is a burger with gold and caviar buy, but there are people who will give this money”, added Chief Tokev.
The top chef also said that there is definitely a touch of PR in the formation of this price.
“A lot of people will prefer to buy this expensive gift to impress someone rather than eat it themselves. To me, it’s more marketing,” the culinary guru said.
“Trud news” recalls that the so-called “organic eggs” are the latest hit on the market. They are double and triple the price of their ordinary counterparts.
According to farmers, organic eggs are grown in areas remote from highways and human industry. The hens are fed only grass, the soil of which is not fertilized with artificial fertilizers. The birds enjoyed a 100% eco environment. Organic hens were not given mixtures of artificial origin, nor hormones.
An organic egg is currently sold for BGN 1.30. For reference, an ordinary egg costs BGN 0.50-0.60.
