They vote for lower remuneration for councilors in Pazardzhik

--

The remuneration of the municipal councilors in Pazardzhik will be increased by more than 50%, if the draft proposal submitted to the city parliament by councilor Nikolay Pandezov is accepted. He proposes that he and his colleagues receive only 20% of the salary of the chairman of the OBS instead of the previous 45%. It is envisaged that this will enter as an amendment to the Regulations for the activities of the local authority. The change went through public consultation on March 11.

“The financial situation of Pazardzhik Municipality is extremely difficult – wrote Pandezov in his reasons. – There are accumulated unpaid debts, which according to data so far amount to over BGN 50,000,000.

The petitioner also emphasizes that the administration and the Municipal Council must work to limit costs as much as possible and finance only the basic systems without which the municipality cannot function.

We remind you that the discussion of the topic began with the vote to increase the salary of the mayor of the municipality, Petar Kulenski, which was increased to 4,900 BGN. The chairman of the municipal council receives 90% of it – 4410 BGN. 45 percent of this amount is the previous remuneration of each of the remaining 40 councilors, that is – BGN 1,984.50. If Pandezov’s proposal is accepted, each of them will receive BGN 882. In this way, for a 4-year term, the funds saved for the Municipality will be in the amount of BGN 2,160,000, it is also stated in the project, which will be discussed in the hall on April 25.
