The district court in Targovishte accepted the request of the district prosecutor’s office for imposing a measure of “detention in custody” on a 32-year-old defendant for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. This is reported by the Appellate Prosecutor’s Office – Varna.
On April 18, a police team inspected the H.P. and found a dry grassy mass in it. The field test done has responded to marijuana, and the initially measured amount was about 70 grams. An examination was ordered to determine the exact amount of marijuana and the percentage of narcotic substance in it.
The man is known to law enforcement and the prosecutor’s office. He has already been convicted of the same crime in 2022, as the present act was committed during the probationary period of his previous conviction.
By decree of the prosecutor overseeing the case, the man was detained for a period of up to 72 hours with a view to bringing him before the court to determine a measure of remand.
The imposed measure is subject to appeal before the Court of Appeal – Varna.
