Parents discussed aggression among children with a psychologist: Konkurent.bg

A Saturday workshop on emotions for parents was held in the children’s department of the “Hristo Botev” Regional Library in Vratsa. The theme of the event was “Aggression, defiant behavior and lying”. The initiative is of the Vratsa library, together with child psychologist Nadezhda Evgenieva, and is being held for the second time in a row. The meetings are mainly aimed at parents of children from 0 to 7 years old, as well as expectant mothers and fathers. The goal of the organizers is for more parents to have direct contact with a child psychologist, so that they can benefit from professional and useful advice in the upbringing, development and communication with the youngest.
The meeting was held with increased interest from the parents, where one of the most current topics in the upbringing of children was discussed, namely – aggression in communication, which we often witness in kindergarten, at home or outside. Psychologist Nadezhda Evgenieva gave valuable advice to parents on how it is healthy to react to children’s aggression and directed them to specific examples of the parent’s reaction when children exhibit aggressive behavior. One of the tips that the specialist emphasizes is that when a child at a younger age (2-3 years old) shows aggression, a positive result gives the so-called “pillow of anger.” The idea is that the child vents the accumulated anger on the pillow, and not on the parent or another child, thus significantly reducing the chances of the child showing aggression against a living being, the psychologist claims.
Meetings with child psychologist Nadezhda Evgenieva and parents are completely free and available to every parent who wishes to gain more knowledge about the proper upbringing of their child. The initiative will continue throughout the year, and the event will be held once a month, and the theme will be different each time. The next meeting with parents will be on May 18 at 11 a.m. at the “Hristo Botev” Regional Library, children’s department, and will be on the topic of “Setting boundaries and parental behavior styles.” Any parent who is interested can attend to hear valuable advice from an expert to help raise their child better.
