Yesterday, at the zonal tournament held in the “Vasil Mihailov” hall, the boys from Vratsa beat the hosts from SU “Hristo Botev”, Belogradchik and PMPG “Sveti Kliment Ohridski”, Montana, respectively, with 2-1 and 2-0 games. In the match for second place, the Montana school beat the home team from Belogradchik 2-0.
Despite the high expectations for our boys, they disappointed and remained in the last place, failing to fulfill their big goal – ranking in the final tournament!
Krasen Hristov made his assessment after playing all the matches: “Usually in sports there is a rule not to analyze and comment on a race on the day of its conclusion. But there is another – that a person, when he makes a huge effort and does not get a result, can violate this rule. I’m not one of the internet geeks, but there are times when I really get sick of it and that’s why I want to share it. Today, a zone of the 2023/24 Student Games was held in the city of Belogradchik with the participation of the winners in Vidin region – “Hristo Botev” Secondary School, Belogradchik, Montana region – St. Kliment Ohridski Secondary School and Vratsa region – “Kozma Trichkov” Secondary School, the city of Vratsa. In view of the fact that our 11-12th grade boys had great chances to qualify for the finals among the ten school teams of Bulgaria, I organized the event in our sports hall. The responsibility for the seriousness of this competition and one of the last chances of the school to present itself at the republican level, unfortunately, was shared by the management of the school, myself and the public, but not the main actors – the competitors on the field. There was a wonderful premise – a non-school day was announced for support from the whole school and we got it. I, as the main organizer, coach and teacher, did everything possible to make the tournament a celebration, but only the competitors did not understand it. At least as someone who has worked in volleyball for many years, I haven’t seen such a full hall in a long time. Even the week before, when the Canadian wrestling championships were held, viewership was lower. Unfortunately, the guys who were supposed to be the main actors not only didn’t, they just exposed themselves. The reasons can be found in many things, but one thing is clear – the mentality and the level of the population in the city is falling with each passing day. It seems that there are no valuable things for most of the people anymore. And big things are almost impossible to do. Such an event cannot be organized without the children’s parents being present (with few exceptions), even if it is a working day. Everything is dying down, and unfortunately, as a combative person, I feel that I have to accept the status quo and end my activities a little.
Nevertheless, let’s wish today’s winners – SU “Kozma Trichkov”, Vratsa, to represent our region worthily at the republican finals. It remains for us to reassess our behavior and if we want to continue the fall, do so. However, there is always a chance to change things, although it is currently minimal!“.
