The photo exhibition “Lost in Time”, with 20 photographs from the forbidden zone near Chernobyl, will be opened in Blagoevgrad on April 26. This is the date on which, in 1986, the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant occurred. Before the war in Ukraine, the area near Chernobyl was one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world, and the TV miniseries “Chernobyl” from 2019 played a big role in this. “This place is really attractive because, first of all, it is abandoned. We are used to going to such mystical places that attract us with their pristine nature because there are no people there. It is deserted and all that can be seen are the remains of human civilization“, told about Radio Blagoevgrad the author of the exhibition Vilian Stefanov. He is a traveler, nature lover, author of books, guidebooks, exhibitions. There are more than 400 photographs from his stay in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, but only 20 will be able to be seen by the residents and guests of Blagoevgrad. “I want to remind people of the consequences of human mistakes, to appeal to pay more attention to nature. And to be responsible above all, to think about ourselves, about our children, about nature, about the places where we live. Because we all see what consequences such mistakes can have“, is the message that Vilian Stefanov sends with his photographs.

The photo exhibition “Lost in Time” will be opened at 10 a.m. on April 26 in front of the municipal administration building – Blagoevgrad and will remain there until May 10, 2024.
