Two babies died of whooping cough!

“In many Western European countries, pregnant women in the last trimester of their pregnancy are vaccinated against whooping cough. This ensures transplacental transfer of antibodies from the mother to the fetus and protects the baby during those 2 months after birth, when she is at risk of infection. In Bulgaria, this it is still not happening and I very much hope that a task force is formed and this decision is discussed and it is good to consider for elderly patients, among whom there are healthy carriers, to have a new booster every 10 years as it is with the diphtheria and tetanus vaccines,” explained Dr. Natalia Gabrovska, deputy head of the Children’s Pulmonology Clinic at SBAL “Prof. Ivan Mitev” – Sofia, BNT reported.
