Mayor Nikolay Rashkov and multiple chess tournament medalist Teodor Tutekov will hold a demonstration meeting on accelerated chess in “Hristo Botev” park.

The idea is to make this sport popular and to attract new followers of 12-year-old Theodore, who is among Bulgaria’s great chess hopes.

Chess develops intellectual abilities. Theo is not only a gifted chess player, but also an excellent student at “Ivan Vazov” Primary School. Also, I found out from his parents that there is a study that says no one who plays chess suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. I really want our children to be interested and engaged in such meaningful things as chess. If we gradually start to attract them, in time we will have some smart and quality individuals who will move society and our country forward, explains the idea of the chess match Nikolay Rashkov.

At Theodore’s age, today’s mayor was also a certified chess player. In recent years, he has not played a single game, but he boldly enters the battle with the idea that if you are going to fall, at least be one of the best.

The chess duel is on April 30 at 4 p.m. in Hristo Botev Park. The meeting is open to the public.
