The co-chairman of “We continue the change” Asen Vassilev responded to Atanas Pekanov, who accused him of lying about the underground metro in Plovdiv. Earlier today with a post on Facebook, the Deputy Prime Minister in the two official offices of Stefan Yanev is indignantthat at a meeting with voters in the City of the Hills, Vassilev said that he had included in the Recovery Plan a project for a city railway, which should be completed by 2026.
“I am surprised that Atanas Pekanov, who was twice the minister responsible for the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RPP), did not bother to read it. Otherwise, he would have seen that a project for a city railway in Plovdiv, which will is financed under the PVU, there is,” answers Asen Vassilev in a position distributed by the press center of “Continuing the Change”.
Attached to the statement is the following quote, which Vassilev indicates is from the final version of the Recovery and Resilience Plan from April 2022:
“Project sheet 19 (component 8, investment 1): “Description of Project 1 – Introduction of regularly scheduled train service (type S-bahn) in the suburban areas of Sofia, Plovdiv and other cities through the purchase of single- and double-decker interoperable electric locomotives trains with a maximum speed of 160 km/h equipped with ERTMS. In order to improve the rail transport service of the largest cities of Bulgaria – among them Sofia and Plovdiv, it is planned to organize the movement of regular suburban trains (S-bahn type) in their suburban areas.”
Another passage from the PVA was added, which reads:
“Stage 184 and 186: “42 EMUs for suburban passenger services with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, equipped with on-board equipment for ERTMS — 7 double-decker EMUs with a minimum capacity of 300 seats and 35 single-decker EMB with a minimum capacity of 200 seats”.
