In the club ranking of a total of 110 teams, the capital’s “Star team” took first place, followed by another Bulgarian club “Masaru”, and the kickboxers of the Hungarian “Halker Kirali team” came third.

The prestigious competition was the last of the year out of a total of four included in the calendar of the World Kickboxing Federation WAKO.

On 8 tatami mats and 2 rings in the Plovdiv sports hall “Kolodrum”, nearly 2000 participants competed for three days, who were evaluated by 100 of the best international referees in kickboxing.

The historic hosting of our country paid off with huge success, both by winning a large number of medals and with the highest rating for the organization of a European Kickboxing Cup to date.

WAKO announced that the competition will be held in Bulgaria again next year, as the native kickboxing and muay thai confederation is waiting for the signing of a 4-year contract to host the European Cup.

“To win the European Cup is something extraordinary for us, because more than 20 countries applied for this hosting, but we managed to win the respect of the WAKO management, as we fulfilled 100% all the requirements. It cost us a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of money , but everything was executed perfectly with the team we work with from “Star Team” from “Bultras”, Plovdiv Municipality and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. From those present here, Romeo Deša – Technical Director of the World Kickboxing Federation, Sarjan Bogarčić – Technical Director of the European Federation and Istvan Kirali – President of the European Federation, we have a score of 10 out of 10. The competition will give us a clearer picture of the national selection, who will represent us at the upcoming World and European Championships in the months of August and November”it stated Galin Dimov – President of the Bulgarian Kickboxing and Muay Thai Confederation.
