The Mayor of the Municipality of Haskovo, Stanislav Dechev, congratulated the students and teachers of “Acad. Boyan Petkanchin” PMG on the occasion of the patron saint’s day of the school

PMG “Acad. Boyan Petkanchin” Haskovo celebrates today the 117th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Bulgarian mathematician whose name it bears. The guest of the school’s patron saint was the mayor of Haskovo Municipality, Stanislav Dechev. The director of PMG Gergana Petrova congratulated the students for their hard work over the past year and pointed out dozens of high achievements in national and international contests, Olympiads and competitions.

The Mayor of Haskovo Municipality, Stanislav Dechev, addressed the students and teachers with the words: “When I received your invitation a few days ago, I thought that I wanted to tell you so many things about the Mathematics High School. For example, the fact that for decades our school has been one of the most prestigious not only in the Haskovo region, but also in the country, that the Mathematics High School is a school for successful leaders, that 96% of the graduates here continue their education in Bulgaria and abroad. But you know all that. So I will tell you something personal. To the younger students who are just starting their studies here: remember that each passing year gets harder in class. But at the expense of that – more and more fun in the breaks. Trust me, I know from experience. To the seniors who have already chosen where to continue their education: please, wherever you go, remember that you are responsible to this high school that gave you knowledge, self-confidence and a chance to make your dreams come true. And if possible, make sure you live these dreams in Haskovo. And last but not least to the teachers who patiently and persistently educate and teach the children of Haskovo. All I want to say is: Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
