Folk ensemble “Bulgaria” from London is another participant in the “On the Megdana of the Other Bulgaria” assembly in Palma de Mallorca, presented on the Facebook page of the event.

The group was founded in September 2013 by Iva Kostova, who, before graduating as a choreographer, was part of the ensemble “Filip Kutev” and the troupe of Neshka Robeva, the publication says.

“Iva Kostova comes from a family of choreographers and dancers who have preserved the authentic Bulgarian folklore over the years. She is a third-generation professional choreographer and dancer and as such considers it her personal mission to spread and transmit the rich, colorful and vast Bulgarian folklore. She is a real modern wake-up call,” shared the hosts of the ninth edition of the traveling festival on the social network.

The folklore ensemble has participated in the “On the Megdana of the Other Bulgaria” assembly since its inception.

The aim of the group is to preserve and spread Bulgarian folklore, traditions and customs not only in Great Britain, but also throughout the world, as well as to preserve the roots, culture and spirit of the Bulgarian people.

“Since 2013, folklore ensemble “Bulgaria” has been delighting audiences both in Great Britain and on the continent. In the fall of 2023, the dancers celebrated their tenth anniversary with a spectacular concert in the heart of London,” the organizers of the gathering also say.

As BTA wrote, the festival will go under the title “The colorful carpet” and will gather Bulgarian dance formations and lovers of native folklore in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in the period from May 11 to 12, 2024. Its ninth edition will be hosted by the “Bulgaria” Dance Group from Palma de Mallorca led by Stanimir Minchev.

A few days ago, the organizers officially opened the charity campaign of the ninth edition of the festival, which will support a cause to help hearing-impaired children in Bulgaria.

For this purpose, sign language training will be organized for ten hearing teachers who work in three schools and several centers for deaf children. It will include six seminars and weekly classes led by five deaf teachers of Bulgarian sign language. For this purpose, an amount of BGN 20,000 is required.
