The number of families receiving packages of food products from the BRC under the “Support” program of the European Union has almost doubled this year. For the entire Smolyan region, they are already 11,094. The distribution of the benefits continues until June 7. In general, in the Smolyan region, the beneficiaries who receive 1 package with 15 products are 10,627, and for 467 families with many children, two packages with a larger amount of the same products. Oil, flour, sugar, pulses, canned fish, meat and vegetables are distributed.
“First we will distribute the food products, until the middle of August most likely the sanitary products, which are for the home and for personal hygiene, will be distributed,” he said Maria Deleva – director of BCHK-Smolyan:
In the municipality of Smolyan, a total of 2,843 individuals and families are subject to assistance. There are about 1,400 in the city alone, and a large number of them have not yet received their food packages. According to the volunteers from the BCHK, one of the reasons is the changed location of the checkpoint, which many people do not know about.
It is located in the Raykovo district, on the road to Dunevo, in the so-called Isata block. The point is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The distribution of the food packages to the people of the villages of the municipality is about to happen.
Under the “Support” program, “Health” clubs will also be formed, where the food products received will have talks related to their health rights.
