At a short ceremony in the presence of the administration’s employees, Prof. Maria Neikova took office as regional governor of the Burgas region, according to Decision No. 284 of the Council of Ministers. The previous regional governor, Plamen Yanev, wished her to successfully implement the state policy in the regional plan, in order to maintain the leading positions of the Burgas region in the country.
For her part, Prof. Neikova stated that she will fulfill her official commitments with a sense of great responsibility, initiative and dedication. She thanked the employees of the Regional Administration for the warm welcome and expressed faith that they will work in conditions of mutual understanding and in the interest of the residents of the Burgas region.
Prof. Maria Neikova has extensive administrative and management experience. She is a long-time dean of the Center for Legal Sciences at the Burgas Free University. Until that moment, she held the position of regional governor of Burgas region from May 2021 to January 2022, as well as from August 2022 to July 2023. Before that, she was the regional governor of Stara Zagora region in the period from 2001 to 2009.
