“Mission Krile” completed a project for the empowerment of refugees and migrants

--

Mission Krile Foundation has completed a project to empower refugees and migrants seeking protection in our country. It lasted nearly 2 1/2 years and was ranked first out of over 50 others. For this period, more than 10 times more than the planned 350 people have been covered, said Diana Dimova, president of the foundation.

“Over 3,500 people seeking or receiving protection in our region and Harmanli area were supported”

Another nearly 1,000 people received help following reports from 5 Regional Police Departments and two emergency aid centers in Starozagorsko and Haskovsko.

“These are refugees who, for whatever reason, ended up in police stations or in emergency centers, because of accidents, at risk of suffocation in trucks. These are huge, huge numbers of people.”

It works with vulnerable groups from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. Nearly 100 of them live at external addresses in the area of Harmanli, Svilengrad, Dimitrovgrad, Galabovo, Haskovo, Stara Zagora and Nova Zagora. In addition, the project incidentally had to provide support to Ukrainian refugees. Diana Dimova emphasized that reports of violent pushbacks along our southern border continue. In addition, signals are also received for those in distress in Strandja National Park. According to her, one of the biggest challenges going forward is the new European legislation on migration. Mission Krile Foundation continues to seek support and like-minded people, given the uncertain future. The main goal of the project is to challenge people and institutions to look at refugees in a different way, she added.

During these 33 months of the project, advisory activities were carried out, both legal, social, psychological and health.

One of the goals during the 2 and a half years the project was running was to create a network of 30 institutions working together. Several meetings and 6 trainings were held, which attracted the attention of the institutions. One of the main topics was violence against children, said Ivaylo Yablekarov

“Relationships have been created that help solve different cases”

The most important activity is the implementation of the Mentoring Program within the project. Through it, leaders who have been given the opportunity to express themselves stand out. In this way, they show various initiatives and organize activities useful both for their community and for the people living in the region, Diana Dimova added.

The chairman of “Mission Krile” called on people to stop dividing refugees according to which country they come from and stated that he will continue to work for their integration and a better life.
