With a variety of activities and initiatives under the motto: “The planet against plastic”, RIOSV – Smolyan and over 200 children and youth from Smolyan and Chepelare celebrated Earth Day – April 22.

The initiatives of RIOSV – Smolyan started on April 18, when experts from the inspection visited the Professional High School of Agriculture and Forestry “Nikola Vaptsarov” – town of Chepelare. During the meeting, high school graduates presented reports on “Forest management in conditions of climate change”, “Afforestation and climate change” and “Rhodope silivryak” and had the opportunity to view a photo exhibition of rare and protected plant and animal species in the Rhodopes , developed within the framework of the “Youth for the Environment” project of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Today, April 22, the little nature lovers from the “Rodopchanche” Kindergarten, Smolyan participated in a children’s holiday with interesting games dedicated to the protection of the planet and the separate collection of waste, and the graduates of “Stoyu Shishkov” Elementary School, Smolyan made a model of the Planet from plastic caps.

As the finale of this year’s campaign, dedicated to Earth Day, on April 27, the plastic caps collected by RIOSV – Smolyan will be handed over to help the charitable cause that the citizens of Smolyan support for another year.

Each year, the EARTHDAY.ORG platform coordinates events around the world to demonstrate global support for the environmental movement. More than 1 billion people in 192 countries participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest celebration in the world. The theme of the campaign this year is “Planet vs. Plastics”.
