Ivanka Getsova-Momcheva’s book “Star Stories” will be presented in the Zora library in Sliven on April 25, the cultural institution announced.
The book was published with the support of the “Culture” municipal fund – Sliven. It is a compendium of illustrated explanations of the constellations of the four seasons, contains a glossary of popular astronomical terms, helpful tips and guidance for amateur astronomers. It is intended for inquisitive children who want to explore the world of the stars, as well as for parents who constantly receive questions, including about space.
Ivanka Getsova-Momcheva is a physicist by education, specializing in astronomy. She worked as a teacher in Yambol, Sliven and Varna. Her interests are in meteor astronomy – member of IMO since 1988 (International Meteor Organization), sun and solar activity – visual patrol 2010-2019, astrophotography – author and moderator of exhibitions dedicated to astronomical anniversaries, author of “Astronomy for children”. There are methodical publications in specialized editions and collections.
Today she will be present at the presentation of the new issue of the LIC magazine “The Bulgarian Track in Space” at the National Press Club of BTA in Sliven. It is dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the flight into Earth orbit of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov and the contribution of Bulgarian science to space research. Participants and guests from 35 national BTA press clubs in the country and abroad will join the event via video link. Ivanka Getsova-Momcheva will present the activities of the Proxima Astroclub in Sliven.
