The Holy Synod canceled this year’s trip of the Bulgarian delegation, which traditionally on the eve of Easter brings the Holy Fire from Jerusalem to spread it to all the churches in the country. The reason is the increased tension between Israel and Iran, reported Dnevnik.

The decision was announced by the speaker of the Synod – Stara Zagorje Metropolitan Kyprian. It is not a precedent, and in such cases the fire from the previous year is used, which is kept in the Synodal Chapel “St. Tsar Boris-Mihail”.

The fire of grace appears Holy Saturday in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ at the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. Pilgrims believe that the sun’s rays ignite a fire deep in the crypt – a sacrament considered a miracle on the eve of the Resurrection of Christ.
